This doesn't surprise me and it's good news indeed. Once you kicked out that sack of **** Schroeder and his chronies, things couldn't help but look up.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

DanS: the thing is that the reforms done during Schroeder's gov are made responsible by many for the improvement....of course as always, those who were in charge back then try to make that point, while the CDU side of the current grand coalition (which wasn't in Schroeder's gov) rather likes to say it's more due to the great work of the current gov....Blah

As a matter of fact, it was 16 years of a conservative-liberal government that got Germany into the mess in the first place. Quite ironic that a leftist government would produce the necessary changes to get us out of it.
Kohl
Schröder
Merkel
Always support the current government
Edit: almost forgot: Schmidt
