With modern transportation and modern technology, one does not need to live in squalor in high-crime areas to get "culture" and take in the "cosmopolitan nature" of cities that park their rotting garbage on their front steps and cram people like sardines into crowded tin cans moving under ground. Do you ever get to leave your little city? Or do you think going to Little Italy is just like going to Rome?
to be fair i dont think gepap does think that. people from the midwest who go to new york new york in vegas or epcot center in florida believe it is just like the place it purports to be

I'm sorry, has New York City become less densely crowded and less smelly since the 1970s? I can't even imagine how awful it was back when you were a teenager in the 70s.

You fit the profile perfectly. Not from New York but from some undesireable part of the world (Panama, in this case). Ashamed of where you came from, you move to NYC and immediately begin calling yourself a New Yorker and singing the praises of the city. It's completely bogus, but it makes you feel superior to others so you stick with it. You eventually internalize it and start to believe you actually are a cosmopolitan sophisticate instead of a fomer country yokel running from who you really are. Pretty common story...

You are worst than someone seeking acceptance. you are seeking attention. you are an attention whore, like Paris Hilton, or Britney Spears.

And in a community like poly, that cherishes its trolls, that gains you acceptance as well.

This continuing insult doesn't even make any sense on any level. I'm not going to ask you to stop, because it makes you look like a complete fool with no other ammunition.

"YeAH! WELL! NEW YORK REJECTED YOU!! TAKE THAT ASHER!!!"

          I am heartbroken.
Hey, when somebody like you starts complaining about New York, and what you complain about is people who are into the "scene", I have to wonder where you would have met these people, and the only logical place you would have met them is trying to go into that "scene". its pretty simple, because if all you were doing was walking down the street, that complaint of yours would make no sense.

Except that doesn't work when you grow up in the place, go to middle school and high school there, like I did in NYC. Maybe for the masses of midwestern kids that flee the midwest after they graduate from some state schoool, that makes sense.

You know, like some Nebraska kid who starts travelling the world and now acts like he is some sort of grand international traveller. Now who do we know acts like that?

I could not tell about the smell. It is more crowded though, because more people want to live here now.

Funny way of showing me acceptance, people keep reporting my posts and mods keep threatening to ban me.

Me, I kill time here at work extensively.

Yes, when I'm in NYC on business, all I was trying to do is enter "the scene" in the lower east side. That was a good call on your part.

well, even Paris Hilton has detractors. That doesn't stop her, why should bans deter you?

Actually, it is. Like you said, you don't work 100 hours a week, and yet even those people spend all their after work hours trying to be part of the "scene." Hell, if anything, saying that you were in NYC working only makes it more likely that I was right.

I can see why you're only a menial paper pusher in a bureaucratic machine.

                      • NYC was great when I was there and the people seemed very nice. Lots of down to Earth working class types as well as the Lower Manhattan crowd. Gepap was even nice enough to go with me for a couple of beers. I still remember that awesome little hole in the wall near the university we went to. Oh, and Zum Sneider was a great German pub where I got just a bit to drunk on their 1 liter beers.

Getting drunk was great though some how in my drunken condition I ended up singing "Oh, Canada" with KH.

That last part Venom and Mike have never let me forget.

Another funny little misconception of yours.

Though you are right, my job has only been tied to one poly thread posted by another poster.
