No, to everyone.
It's a cold, anonymous city filled with self-righteous self-proclaimed "cosmopolitans" that are into the "scene" -- hollow shells of people.
But you proved me right, since you were obviously trying to fit into that "scene" yourself.
So now I get it, you tried to get into the "scene" (whatever "scene" it was), and failed miserably, probably turned down as some country bumpkin. See what you get Asher, for hanging out with people who are just like you, only better trained at being asses?

I don't belong to any scene, because I don't feel the need to bend over to conform like you do. I don't need to feel accepted by strangers to make my life worth living.
People in NYC tend to be of the hive mind mentality, they're all so weak they group together for strength in numbers. You're not worldly and cosmopolitan just because you live in some slums in the lower east side, GePap."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Instead of accepting this and reveling in the distinct national characters that make the world so grand, you instead choose to toss your national identity aside and replace it with a sterile and souless "international" cosmopolitan culture that is shared with every other "world-class" city on the planet. This culture is admittedly attractive to people fresh in from the sticks, but it seems quite pedestrian and boring once you've seen a bit of the world...
The simplest proof of this is that great cities outlive the "nations" around them. What makes the City great is universal and timeless, beyond these temporary and imaginary distinctions you seem to crave. If you don't like reality, change it! me

Which is why you spend so much time here in Poly, post pictures, talk about your inane day. Yup, you surely don't crave attention......

The only difference between a city and a country is the distance from one side to the other.
With modern transportation and modern technology, one does not need to live in squalor in high-crime areas to get "culture" and take in the "cosmopolitan nature" of cities that park their rotting garbage on their front steps and cram people like sardines into crowded tin cans moving under ground. Do you ever get to leave your little city? Or do you think going to Little Italy is just like going to Rome?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

your complainst about NY are a bad rehash of some 1970's article. Keep up with the times.
As for leaving NYC, I do, and go to other nice cities, ignoring all the crap in between. I loved the atmosphere in Vienna, and Chicago is a nice town.If you don't like reality, change it! me
