I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Illegal immigrants in the US have 10x the freedom of Russian citizens in Russia. Fact.

Crappy thread title. You made be dupe it!

Also, you should have mentioned the Russians hacking Estonian gov't web sites, Putin equating the US with the Third Reich, and Russian officials touting a new Cold War because of a handful of interceptors. All in a week's work for Russia.

I have a number of problems with this thread.

I'm surprised you neglected to mention the unfortunate maintenance works on pipelines. Though, naturally, it's only normal those break down more frequently during times of crisis.

That was a couple of weeks ago. Gotta spread out the ridiculousness, apparently.

It surprises me that the EU hadn't taken a tougher line with Russia re Estonia.

By the way, is Schroeder still involved with that Russian natural gas pipeline company that was to bypass Eastern EU members?

I see many of you truly rejoice the evil Russkies being back. (I mean, being back as soundly evil.) Now you've got it easier than before: no need for a false polytical correctness, just bash it openheartedly.

And Poland + the Baltic trio, congrats. It seems you have finally succeeded in seriously undermining the EU-Russian relations. Your dream is coming true.

What do you mean Vagabond? Poland and the Baltic trio ARE part of EU. I think that's kind of the point with the thread title as well.

Yes, they are part of EU, and they undermine the EU-Russian relations from within the EU.

I think Russia is doing a fine job of harming it's relations with the EU without any outside help. It mainly is due to Putin attempting to trump up nationalism at home by making big deals out of ant hills abroad. But hey, I guess a politic's personal needs are more important then the geo-political position of the entire country.

miss being able to undermine US - EU relations from outside the EU?

It takes two to tango. If they are undermining the relations, Russia isn't? If you want to talk about undermining relations, how about not protecting embassies? How about attacking an embassador, and not doing anything about it either, but silently accepting all that happened? So what do you have on that, how exactly is EU undermining the relationship again?
