Damn straight. It's too bad you Germans don't understand that, but you've never really grasped the concept of democracy...

Listen, I'll gladly defend Falwell's right to think or say whatever he wants. But democracy also gives us the right to criticize what he tought or said. And I'm not talking about taking political measures like censorship here. That would be something close to fascism. Some people claim that criticizing other people's views is fascist, but these people are not only irresponsible, they're intellectual girlie men.

I think it should be obvious to all non-Germans.
Therefore I asked.
I'm trying to figure out those things....admittedly I don't have your expertise, but how is calling someone evil undemocratic, esp. since you seem to think that hatemongering as such is ok?
Calling someone "evil" disposes of all pretense of civil discussion. If someone is "evil" there is no need to listen to what they have to say and one need feel no remorse at anything bad that may happen to them. It is dehumanizing, which is fine if you're trying to make your gas chambers a little less guilt-inducing, but has no place in a democracy.

Again you have me confused. Wouldn't something like this fall under free speech which is exactly protected in this kind of democracy?
Not to mention that this Falwell guy didn't seem to agree to your (newly discovered) high standards of "civil discussion" in his rhetorics either....
