    Digitizing 35 wheels of slides

    Yo!

    So my dad has 35 35mm wheels of slides that he's accumulated over the years. They never get looked at because, well, slides are a pain.

    So for his birthday this year (few months away), I'm going to get his slides digitized. Apparently this costs a fortune.

    I got a quote for $1200US for 500 slides. Amazing.

    What's the best way to do this, boys?

    Break into a photo lab at night and do it yourself.

        Unis sometimes have these capacities at the relevant faculties, just need to know some postgrads working in those places and they can get the job done for you. Is there a faculty on media tech or something like that?

            Maybe there is a uni nearby and all you need to do is chat up some hot postgrad people on the next campus party.

              If you're willing to invest lots of time look for a scanner that can handle slides (there are also special types for that purpose though some quite expensive) and do it yourself.

                There are history grads who do this sort of thing for a living Asher. Why don't you ask them?
