I didn't know about Spain, Thailand, or Italy... I think. I know that Brazil and India's carriers are in poor form, and guessed that Russia's are.

Yep islamists, or anyone else for that matter, have nothing to do with security threats in the region, no sir.
For the second time, how is that pic not relevant to threats against European economic activity in the HOA, as you stated?
I bet, just like everyone is not interested in whatever job you do. Mine, however, provides me with the opportunity to not talk out of my ass on this subject, unlike others.
Hmmmm...., interesting opinion you have there. As world oil supplies go, who uses more ME oil, Europe or the US? Who made the ME the POS it is today in the first place? Who shares the same values as America and is equally a thorn in the islamic fundamentalist's side?
Yep, all America's doing. Spot on.
Confussing post... So, you are contradicting the terrorists themselves saying that the main cause of islamic terrorism in ME are not USA and Israel... but Europe. Because our "common values" and the "they hate us becuse our freedom" thingy...
Negating the problem and projecting your faults in others is not the way to solve the problem (neither having more ships btw )

IIRC Russia's can't actually sail, and Spain and Italy's are still under construction.
Yeah, I seem to remember now hearing that Italy's was under construction.
So that makes 3 that are under construction, 3 that are in poor form (can't sail, or can't be functional and sail), and 3 that are fully functional.

Isn't Brazil's and India's carriers also from Russia? How many does Russia have left?

"Baku:
Baku was renamed Admiral Gorshkov on the 4th October 1990. There have been several reports of her sale to India and conversion to a full deck carrier since 1995, but nothing has yet been confirmed and has also been used as a parts ship for the other Kievs."
"Kuznetsov:
Kuznetsov was originally named Riga. On 26th November 1982 she was renamed Leonid Brezhnev, and again renamed Tblisi on 11th August 1987. She was finally renamed Kuznetsov on 1st January 1991. Her only deployment so far was in the Mediterranean between December 1995 and March 1996.
Since then, she has been awaiting overhaul, but has occasionally been used for flight testing and may be deployed late in 2000.
Varyag:
Varyag was originally named Riga and renamed in August 1990. Construction was cancelled in 1992 by which time the ship was complete, but did not have electrical fittings installed. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, the ship was transferred to the Ukraine. In 1996, Varyag was sold to an English company for scrapping, but this was cancelled.
In March 1998, she was reportedly sold to a company in Macao to be converted into an entertainments complex. It has been suggested that this company is a front for the Cinese navy to purchase the ship. She remains in Russian waters, and it is very unlikely that she will ever operate as envisaged. ing, but this was cancelled. "Kiev:
Kiev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner in January 1985. She was stricken on 30th June 1993 after an engine fire, but has been retained as a parts hulk.
Minsk:
Minsk was sold for scrapping on 14th November 1994, but this was cancelled. On 1st August 1995, she was sold for scrapping to a South Korean company and towed to Kyang-Yang. From there she was resold and towed to Shenzhen in China for use as an entertainments complex.
Novorossiysk:
Novorossiysk was sold to a South Korean company and arrived for scrapping on 18th January 1996. It is not known if she has actually been scrapped."

They were only ever building 3. They scrapped one, sent one to China, and the third might be operational.

I said Europe was the main cause of terrorism? Are your reading the same thread as the rest of us?
What I did was give several reasons Europe is a contributer to the false rational of terrorists. You, my obtuse friend, are the one placing terrorism on a single alter.
Because our "common values" and the "they hate us becuse our freedom" thingy...
No, you said that, I said something that amounts to culture clash. I also mentioned your economic exploitation and leftover colonial messes.
Though if they don't blame you at all, why do they bomb you?

Russia's carrier operated in 2005, but the real problem is the air wing. Their training and operational status is questionable at best.
IIRC China also bought a carrier off of Russia (come to think of it... might be the same one) that can't sail yet either.
They bought a couple. One is a museum now and the other is being disected. China made it clear in what passes as it's quadrenial defense review that carrier acquisition was a priority, but behind submarines.
Spain and Italy both have operational carriers now (Giuseppe Garibaldi for Italy, PrÃncipe de Asturias for Spain), they both have replacements under construction.
Isn't Brazil's and India's carriers also from Russia? How many does Russia have left?
Brazil's is ex-English

I wonder if Russia would like to have theirs (at least the more modern types, not the old Kiev etc) back now that they (seem to) have money again....
Russian carriers are interesting because they have the missile armament of a crusier in addintion to their airwing. The VLS hatches are fitted into the flight deck as to not interfere with normal operations (can't lauch missiles while operating planes obviously.
