Perhaps you're right; it's been a while since I've seen it. My memory of the over-the-top stedicam work, incongrous use of "Same Old Song," and the hilarious last line all make it seem less "straight" in my head, but that could be my bad memory.

All the more reason to see it again!

    • - No Country For Old Men. Saw it last night in theatre. Not sure yet what to think about it.

      - The Searchers. A classic.

Hot Fuzz was one of the worst movies I've tried to watch in years. I shut it off in the boring, stupid part about the murder. An even worse movie I had to get rid of after only 5 minutes of wasting my time was Butterfly Effect.

Mr. Brooks was the only good movie I watched so far this year. I usually watch documentaries and UFC while dodging lousy movies.
Here is an interesting scenario to check out. The Vietnam war is cool.

That's part of the experience, you're supposed to be scared. But it sucks when movies give you nightmares. I have watched a LOT of horror movies, but after I saw The Ring (the japanese version) I actually had trouble sleeping. Talk about a movie that gets under your skin...

                        • I saw Brokeback Mountain relatively recently, long after it came out. (Geddit? Came out? Har har!)

It was very good. Definitely a film to bring the tissue box along.

i've never had a nightmare. i might have when i was much younger, but i can't remember. i prefer to keep it that way. i can handle scary movies, but i definitely prefer not to watch them at all. japanese version? was that worse than the other one? cuz i really didn't like that one.

                            • The japanese was more scary imo, I think because japanese ghosts and spirits don't behave like they do in the west. Thus there's the added scare factor of the unknown in a japanese horror movie...
