          • "Letters from Iwo Jima" deserves a view from everyone, much better than "Flags of our Fathers"

everyone pass on "Bug" with Ashley Judd (not even a hint of a horror movie)

anyone gona bother with 10,000 BC Part II "just one more turn"

            • Just watched the (remade) movie The Browning Version. I haven't seen the original, but if it's better than this, it's a very very good movie indeed. The remake was excellent. Reminded me of my own boarding school days in England (except co-ed) and also the petty jealousies and rivalries among the staff. [Michael Gambon] (Oops! I meant Albert Finney, who plays Crocker Harris... Michael Gambon is the headmaster...) walks an excellent line between fragility and severity. I have to admit I cried a little near the end.

              Well worth watching.

Have you seen Robert Donat in 'The Winslow Boy' ? I think if you like 'The Browning Version' you'll like that too.

The BBC also adapted Antonia White's 'Frost In May' for television if I recall correctly, and also 'To Serve Them All My Days'- both set at boarding/public schools.

Michael Gambon is a terrific actor- I saw him in Brecht's 'Life Of Galileo' at the National Theatre years ago now. He was such a convincing monster in 'The Cook, The Thief...' too.

                • I didn't think Paul Dano in There Will Be Blood was very good at all.

I feel like I've seen enough films from 2007 to cobble together a top 10.

                  1. Khadak
                  2. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
                  3. I'm Not There
                  4. No Country For Old Men

                  6. The Darjeeling Limited
                  7. Once
                  8. Gone Baby Gone
                  9. Black Book
                  10. Hot Fuzz

                  • They made a Lady Chatterley film? I remember there being a TV miniseries done in the early 1990s before I was legally old enough to stay up late at night without my parents knowing and watch Sean Bean and Joely Richardson dancing naked through the glen making flower rings in each other's hair.

                    • I guess it was released in France in 2006, but everywhere else it was a 2007 film. So I'm counting it for my list (not that it's actually on it). It is a good film, quite... languid. The energetic ending of the film is the highlight.
