I thought Edward Norton did a great job in American History X, although the shower scene in prison was a bit underplayed
I so want to see this movie, but cable tv never plays the damn thing. Why is it so hard to see? I guess I could try to rent it. What's the deal with net flix, how does that work? I'm thinking maybe I'll do that and cancel cable premium movie channels (no reason to watch hbo anyways since sopranos is done)

So has anyone seen the Omega man? The new Will Smith movie looks really good. it's based off of this movie, and I suppose the book- I am Legend.
I'm actually looking forward to a movie. That hasn't happened in a long time for me.
Though don't ask me how you can spend $5 million filming one scene. What in the hell does hollywood do with all this money?
My biggest problem with the movie is CGI effects. Does anyone think these look even remotely realistic? They look horrible.

yeah I want to check out the Heston version. For some reason I have never seen it on regular tv.

One problem many people have when viewing older movies (not saying you so forgive me, Viccodin has me loopy mind ya) is allowing the movie to be enjoyed for what it is, an older movie, props are cheesy looking to what we see digitally mastered but the acting in so many is awesome.
Heston is a strong character, like Burt Lancaster or Jimmy Stewart or gary Cooper to name but a few.
It is in my opinion very entertaining, If I remember it was like from latter 1960's or very early 1970's, I went to Drive In with parents to watch it.
To this day, I remember the creepy feelings I had around dusk near warehousses
But I sincerely hope you enjoy it, maybe one day you will expereince it.
I keep my eyes on Pawn Shops (here in a military town we have many of them) also Circuit City,Best Buy and WalMart, all come up with 5-8 dollar movies, remakes of classics.
hey now, I can watch Damnation Alley without laughing at the special effects, I just laugh at the crappy writing and acting . Though that movie did have some pretty advanced special effects for the time. And I still enjoy Planet of the Apes. Not that that movie had that many effects, mostly in the beginning with the space ship.
I just saw three movies about Africa in the span of about two weeks: Hotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond, and the Last King of Scotland.
I have to say, despite all the praise heaped on Hotel Rwanda, I wasn't terribly impressed. It made particularly sharp political points but I didn't really feel for any of the characters except in a few very good scenes.
The Last King of Scotland was good but focused too much on some random white guy having large effects on the government.
Blood Diamond was probably the best of the three. Leo is really a much better actor than people give him credit for being.
My next movie continent was Europe. I saw Luc Besson's Angel-A, a compact film about a guy living a bad life in Paris. It didn't have much of a plot, and it was predictable, but it was a pretty-looking movie with a pretty-looking co-star and some very nice performances and writing.
I saw No Country for Old Men on Saturday. Bleak, disturbing, and damn good.

Saw Spider Man 3. Wow, I think it sucked even more than the second one. What a crappy movie! I was bored to tears. Fortunately, Zip (Canada's Netflix) just sent me a couple of Fassbinder movies. Lets hope they'll cheer me up after this borefest.

Just finished seeing it too. Very good, thought a lot of people are not going to like the ending.
Also liked the preview for There will be Blood.
