  • When he survived in the "future" episode, the point was that he could heal after Hiro stabbed him.

He needed Claire's power to survive the stabbing, not the bomb explosion.

      • Oh right... but then, I wonder... does "save the cheerleader, save the world" mean that by saving Claire, Sylar can be killed by Hiro... but the bomb still happens? So Sylar never can take over Nathan's body to become President... and that is what "save the world" means?

        • I'm of the opinion that Future Hiro doesn't fully understand the current situation, much less the consequences of messing with the past. I'm not sure he knows exactly what he did when he went back in time to the subway.

Yes, that is what it meant when he said it, and he thought that killing Sylar would prevent the explosion. However, one of two things went wrong: either Sylar was never the source of the explosion in any continuity so it was always Peter but the public (and Hiro) only think it was Sylar, or Hiro's warning had the unintended consequence of pushing the cause of the explosion from Sylar to Peter. And now, for the moment at least, there's the additional problem that Hiro isn't acting how future Hiro intended him to act and Sylar hasn't been killed on top of the bomb still going off, leading to the continuity we saw in the five years episode. It is on the shoulders of current Hiro and Ando to do something that changes this, since they are the only ones who have been outside of the current continuity (even future Hiro can't help, since he's kinda dead)...lacking any interference from them, everybody else will continue on the path to the future we saw.

            • Damn good show. Still catching up here. Nathan Petrelli is Claire's father and doesn't even care to look at her picture - wow. The G-Man seems to genuinely care for Claire, although he's a ruthless and often cruel man, on his job, whatever it is. And Sylar meeting Suresh, pretending to be one of those people with an ability - very nice seeing those two onscreen.

It also seems that Peter is shaping up to be the only hero as powerful as Sylar. Even more powerful, in fact. Sylar absorbs all the abilities by killing people, Peter only has to meet someone, and he's finally learned to call onto those abilities. I wonder, if Peter meets Sylar (well, they've meat already, in fact), does Peter gain all of Sylar's abilities?

It hasn't happened that way thusfar, and based on the 5 year in the future episode it doesn't look like that is possible.

I do wonder how Peter's power works with Nikki/Jessica. Since her "power" is quite different from the other people's power. It is like a multiple personality that has a mind of its own. If Peter absorbed that, would he adopt a multiple personality too?

I haven't gotten that far yet . But they did meet when Peter rushed off to homecoming to save Claire. Sylar attacked with his powers, Peter couldn't do anything... but then again, it seems that Peter isn't immediately aware when he absorbs someone's power.

That's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it would be that Nikki's power is superhuman strength when she's in Jessica mode - so maybe Peter would gain that strength.

                  • We do see Peter use at least one of Sylar's stolen abilities; it's not clear if he can only use the abilities Sylar uses in his presense.

We have seen Niki (briefly) use superstrength, outside of the Jessica persona, when she broke the baton in jail.

She definitely went into Jessica mode there.

                        • It could be that her multipersonality disorder is unrelated to her power other than that Jessica knows how to use it and Nikki doesn't.

                          • When she broke it, she had that evil and strong look in her eyes for about a second - as long as it took her to grab the baton and break it. The next second she was terrified and shocked. I say it was Jessica, but only for a second.
