What is good about Word 2007 versus Word XP? Checking online, it seems Word now has a new menu and live font switching. That does not justify $100 to me, or even an illicit download. What am I missing.

[I only use MS Word pretty much]

Yeah , I saw that review. Mentions like 2 new features of Word, mainly that it makes some hidden features more noticeable. Don't see how that's significant.

The new interface alone makes it a great version. Seriously, the interface is amazing once you get used to it.

Microsoft packages their stuff securely. I removed all the clear tape that I could find on the Outlook box but I still could not get the box open. If you have not seen these boxes they consist of very thick bolted plastic and a slider to open the top. I could not get the slider open. I was not a happy camper and at 3:00AM in the morning on the third day of trying to get the computer to run, I just decided to force the box open by prying it apart.

For anyone who has successfully opened one of those boxes, he was obviously doing it wrong

Yeah, I'd put his IQ on the lower-end of the 60 range, based on his difficulty...

Indeed. He managed to cut himself in destroying the box. Obviously doing it wrong, you use sturdy gloves and/or pliers, maybe shears, or even a solid craft knife.... but you don't use your freaking bare (soft, pink, girly) hands on packaging!

I've just migrated from 2K to Vista. The reason for this was because 2k is unsupported and Vista was the same price as XP.

The new interface horrified me and disabling it involved some truly intriguing menu navigation processes (a hint, it's not anywhere near "Appearance"), but with that screen real-estate hogging abomination put to rest I find Vista quite usable.

The search feature sucks donkeyballs. But that's already been said.

Also I find that occasionally explorer crashes, but one could hardly expect Vista to not be Windows.

I'm beginning to notice a correlation between IQs and Vista-haters...

The search feature pwns. Sure, I'm OCD with my metatagging and sorting, but try finding the song you want in my music collection using XP

I agree that the search feature pwns, but I don't see why you'd ever want to find a song in explorer instead of WMP (or whatever media player you use)

It's as easy - double-click the Music folder on the desktop, type in the name or whatever, and double-click what shows up. I don't like Winamp's media library taking up more than a tiny bit of my screen.

Also for dragging and dropping to my MP3 player or DJ box or CD or whatever.

He's OCD. He has to keep checking to make sure his songs are still there.

Thus alt-tab and a search in WMP
