Probably most people wouldn't fall under either extreme.

            Absolute Faith IS Absolute Corruption
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

I don't consider that absolute faith. If you sincerely believed that your religion was the best why would you have to kill people who don't share your views? Wouldn't that be evidence of a lack of faith, that you fear them?

If the "unbelievers" have conquered and oppressed millions of your faith, you might kill to liberate them. Like the Crusades. Of course, most Crusaders were only there for personal gain, not compassion for the native Christians.
