I don't recall defending Drixnak's point Boris. I think both sides of the aisle in that debate are filled to the brim with assumptions.

The majority of Muslims DON'T support Islamist terrorism, that's my point you dingbat.
And where's the all-encompassing poll proving this point?
Poll? Who cares... Where is even the one, loud, unequivocal voice of condemnation from a native, "mainstream" Muslim?(\__/) Save a bunny, eat more Smurf!

Where's the "unequivocical" voice of Americans against Abu Ghraib, Iraq, where's the voice to trade to justice the war criminals of Vietnam? If Iran supporting Hezbollah is the proof that they want to eradicate Israel, then does that mean your support of the Contras was a mean to eradicate Nicaragua, and demonstration of your willingness to resort to an unprovoked nuclear attack against socialist regimes?
What do you know of Muslim countries, how would you hear their voice anyway? Do you honestly trust the "free" press of Jesusland? How come there is one billion Muslims in the world, and 10,000 members at most fighting for Al-Qaeda (most of them piss-poor Pachtun peasants offered 5x the wage they would have if they cultivated their soil)?
The reality is that people, for obvious cultural reasons, are never as critical of their own as they are of others - but that in no way implies that Muslims are a mass of murdering terrorists in the waiting. There's more to the world than being against you or with you, y'know.
And yes, if you try to open your mind to Muslim culture, you will see that there's, amongst them, a healthy debate about the issues that the world faces. Just don't expect them to fanatically riot against the fringe elements of their societies, as if they were a simple tool of your worldview - just like we don't see Americans fanatically rioting over the wrongdoings of the corrupt Bush administration.Last edited by Fake Boris; March 19, 2007, 07:49.In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

You may not be familiar with it, but there are other ways to show your displeasure than "fanatically rioting". You can protest in a civil manner. And that is just what people do in the West, again and again, about all the issues you cited. Bush literally can't do a step out of the White House without getting people on the street. In foreign countries especially, but more and more in America too.
Whereas, honestly, I have yet to see news about people in muslim states protesting against their lunatic fringe. All I can see is silent approval. Must be the "free" press in Jesusland deluding me, of course.

It's people's actions that show their true belief. Don't forget, most Muslim countries aren't liberal democracies where self expression is valued - and where everyone would get their little personal satisfaction, as a citizen, by denouncing anti-environmentalist policies and then driving their cars to work every morning thereafter. In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

This part I agree with.

The thing is, you can't expect someone from a country thousands of miles away, where the people don't share anything in common with you (language, culture, wealth level, political tradition), to act and behave like you "would".
I'm certainly not into blaming all followers of a religion for the deeds of their lunatics, but if there won't be any anti-terror movement from within Islam soon, my patience will wear out. It's already growing thin.

That is indeed what pisses many of us off. More disturbing is the hate against those of Muslim heritage (whether they are practicing Muslims or not) who speak out about any of Islams less savory elements. Such as the subject of the OP of this thread. Such as whats-her-face who came over from Holland recently (I'm bad with names, what can I say?). Not only do crazed imams in Iran go ape****, but such people are harrassed/threatened by Muslims living in the West.
