  • I don't know, but I'm pretty sure mentioning Godwin ought to count. You lose, Elok!

I suppose it doesn't matter now.

      • Oh please

First of all, the post you were responding to (Footie Mad's) was simply pointing out that these Christian fundies are very unlikely to gain any real power in Denmark. Their positions are fair less mainstream than there are, for instance, here in the USA. The Nazis are a poor comparison, because while the Nazis may have been underestimated by some, they were receiving large numbers of votes in elections. People didn't necessarily understand just how crazy they were, but people could read election results (though they never attained a majority, IIRC, they were a large and important party). In contrast, everybody agrees these fundies are crazy, and they have no broad base of support (in Denmark, anyway).

Second, I'll speak up for (or against) whomever I chose, and so will everyone else, including you. My approval or lack thereof doesn't mean squat in the end, especially to anarchists in Denmark. In the USA, believe you me I'll speak out in opposition to crazy fundies. I'd also speak out of them (through gritted teeth) in support if the situation mirrored this one. The fundies, crazy as they are, were in the right here.

I wasn't really arguing that you should only speak for someone if it will benefits you personally.

          • What were you arguing?

That the leftist/anarchist/etc youth group types are not being spoken for and are thus ****ed?

It seems to me that through this they *did* receive quite a bit of support, from their parents, from several wealthy donors, and even from some politicians and others in the community.

They ultimately lost this fight, but this equates to fascism how?

You might want to consider that maybe the reason they tend to go after leftists first is because we speak for everyone.

Who is "they" that "tend to go after leftists?" The government, which of course is automatically fascist? Did you miss the Branch Davidian thing in Waco, TX years ago? Clearly a buncha leftists the gummint went after (and arguably badly mishandled).

By the way, communist governments have historically "come for" groups of people as well. Of course, that was ok, because those people were "counter-revolutionaries" and therefore evil.
