Well, based on what I've read about the history of the place, the various people & groups that have occupied it have been leftist, but not necessarily all anarchists. They may have veered in that direction in the 90s, for all we know.
It sounds like relations between the council and the Ungdomshuset deteriorated in the mid-to-late 1990s. The fire, the mold/rot, the apparent trouble in getting in to renovate...

Because breaking promises like hat is bound to have consequences. By pulling the carpet under the young the council created these riots and violence, polarised the citizens and radicalised the youth even further. Not exactly the ideal diplomatic outcome.
