I didn't say it is racism. God damn, are you going to put up and honest discussion or not! They are different just like races are different, and some people don't like people who are different.

    ALSO by kid...earlier...
Why are you saying that this isn't like racism?

care to rephrase your last statement kid? backtracking the flamboyant point youve been trying to make for 2 days wont work now...

race: group of humans: any one of the groups into which the world’s population can be divided on the basis of physical characteristics such as skin or hair color

the youth group is NOT a race kid. comparing this to the civil rights movement is unfair. yes they are different but
PLEASE dont play the race card here.

laurentius, you should apologize me for hurting my feelings. I remember your last insult as well, as you said I'm Timo TA Mikkonen. Granted, it was maybe two years ago or so, but I have difficult times forgetting things in general, including negative things. You don't know me and you think you do, I kind of get the image you think I am, but it's not even close. THat's why I find it hurtful that you would throw these insults and I think you should apologize me.

Oh poor Pekka, he is soooo sensitive! Voi kyynel,

I bet you dont remember half the crap you threw towards me just few posts ago. So I'm really not in the mood to listen to your crying.

In case you still dont get it, I was not insulting anyone. I was marely pointing out how none of us really accurately represent our people here. I dont think its fair to think Finns are as right wing nutter as you are or as left leaning nut as I am. Something in between maybe.

Of course I base my image of you to the things you have posted here. What else am I supposed to base it on? You have refused to go for a beer with me. You probably base your image of me to the things I have said here too. It is probably just as warped as well as in most cases I act like an ass here.

I still dont understand how you can be insulted with being compared to Timo T.A. Mikkonen, the true Finnish American cowboy

then stop comparing this to the civil rights movement, and try to find a better example for your "argument." If you are running out of ideas to defend your point that the youth groups were being "persecuted," i suggest you take a break, and come back with a fresh perspective

You aren't going to convince me to change my argument. You're an idiot.

a one line personal attack. typical. i feel like im beating a dead fish here but i shall proceed. you have obviously completely run out of things to say now. you CANNOT defend your point any further and are quite honestly flabbergasted and stupified that i have once again called your argument right on the nose and you are still stunned. the youth groups were not being "persecuted" as you say, they were squatters who didnt belong there. simple isnt it?

                  • If this building has such historical significance, and furthermore if the population of Denmark really is sympathetic, then it really shouldn't have been that hard for this group to have organized a fund-raising drive to raise money to buy it sometime during the past 17 years. Then it could be protected from the evil christian capitalist pigdog oppressors.

I mean, hell, there are "save the ____" campaigns all the time. In my town, a famous (relatively) diner was recently badly damaged in a fire. The idiots who ran it apparently didn't have fire insurance*. However, the diner is so popular that they've been receiving donations to help them fix it up and reopen it. It sounds like they may actually raise enough money to reopen, which amazes me (I never liked their food), but hey, there's no accounting for taste.

So surely, had this youth group reached out to the community, they could have made some progress.

                    Nah, better to break ****.

                    -Arrian

                    * - and no, I don't think it was because they were too po to afford it. O'Rourke's was constantly packed, with lines out the door.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                    • No, I don't try to form much of an image. It never projects the reality 1:1.

I refused to go for a beer? I have declined meets systematically since 2000. Before that, I used to meet with few people, but they were in the group I was, so that's a bit different. What group was that, I'll leave that to an imagination, but we've know for years, this year it's 10 years.

But as for others, I haven't met with anyone. I like my privacy, I do not like to meet with people from boards. I came very close meeting with Chemical Ollie though, but it was some time ago. The reason? Privacy, plus I don't like to do 'chit chat' with people I don't know. I don't like to meet new people, period. It's a forced situation for me, as in I'm supposed to like this person, or act like I do. That's not how it works for me. I'm not saying everyone would like me, but my point of view comes from me, to me. Unless there was a strong reason to meet, I'm going to decline from now on as well.

As a sidenote, I did try to meet new yorkers when I was there, but no one could come within the short window of time I had.

But you should not take it as an insult. It's more of a principle, that has very little to do with the person asking for a meet.

And I do not insult people like you did, if that's what you meant to do, which turns out you didn't try to do. I never play arrogance into the game like that. I call people names, but that's usually not meant with much truth. That is to say, I don't try to insult people deeply, and if that turns out the case, I apologize.

What I post? Well, that is still selective at best. It's fragmented and strongly subjective. So, that's why I try to not form any images of people myself.

Some wealthy people offered to help them buy the building but the owners wouldn't sell. They wanted to demolish it. I kind of think it's not about economics, because it costs money to demolish buildings and then it will be an empty lots. I doubt seriously if the empty lot will be worth what they were offered for the building minus the demolition costs.

And it still amazes me why the hell they would want to do this if it weren't about hate. Indeed, no one else wanted to, which is why they got the building for cheap.

                            • I meant BEFORE the building was bought by the Christian group, Kid. You know, anytime in the past 17 years? The fact that they were able to find people to put up the money now indicates to me that they could've done it in the past... but didn't bother for whatever reason. Maybe they didn't think the city would ever sell the building.

I don't know why they're demolishing it. It *could* be for the reason you suggest. It could be they intend to develop the lot with something else. If the building was already in bad shape, it's conceiveable that demolishing it and rebuilding was the best option for redevelopment. Obviously that, at a minimum, shows that the new owners don't care about the history of the building. At a maximum, they're doing it out of spite.
