Everything that I "own" is on loan, and I do not hold any great attachment to any of it. Ownership is an abstract concept.

Sort of. It's accepted as necessary, society-approved violence. I think most people understand on some level that there is force involved (it's not like people would claim that beating someone with a baton isn't violent. They *may* think it was necessary, depending on the circumstances). Unless it is taken too far, of course, at which point it becomes police brutality. Unecessary roughness, 15 yard penalty, repeat 1st down...

The gummnit uses force or the threat of force, and asserts that it is the only entity allowed to do that in the public sphere. So long as the population has a measure of control over the government, I frankly prefer it that way. As noted before:

No police, no gummint = Arrian is screwed. That goes for pretty much all ya'll other geeks on 'poly.
