The whole nudity aversion thing is just bizarre to me.

People don't want to be embarrassed by being naked while changing in a locker room, so many of them act like complete idiots while trying to change with a towel around their waist. They have no idea it looks so much worse to do that than just be a man about it.

Exactly right. Just go on about it like nothing is happening, no one will care. No one will even notice. It's completely natural. If you don't want to be seen, just don't make it a show and start dancing and wavings bits in the air. I mean, I need to get changed, what do I do? I take off my clothes and put the other ones on, and if someone has a problem with it, well, it's not my problem and I don't have to see them ever again anyway.

      Lorizael, no I didn't.

Plus the people who go out of their way to hide it likely have small penises. At least, this is the implication.

It's thoroughly ridiculous is what it is, but it's hard to shake. I was going to talk about how difficult it is to abandon all the things that are ingrained into you as a child, but I guess you might have some prior experience with that.

Were you really told as a child to cover yourself up in the locker room?

Maybe that's it...I did swimming for many years as a child and I never went out of my way to hide myself while changing. There's actually a somewhat bizarre trend that when people first started being all paranoid as kids while changing, once they see others not doing it they eventually stop it as well.

For some people it's genuine embarrassment, for others it's just something they for some reason thought was socially necessary.

Winston: I have actually only done that once, and no photo documentation of that event is available. Anyway, I don't think you'd care too much about pictures of ~8-10 year old girls rolling in the snow with their granny, right?

In my particular case it probably has more to do with what my parents didn't do. I was raised in a rather... cold... manner that had a significant impact on me. For example, I have never voluntarily touched my parents, nor have I ever told them I loved them.

Additionally, while I was probably never explicitly told that nudity was a bad thing (****, my father (but not my mother) has no problem with nudity at all), the distant manner in which I was raised hurt my ability to be comfortable with other people.

Okay, maybe this isn't a cultural thing; maybe I'm just ****ed in the head.

Best way to get over it is to just get used to it. Don't be a coward and then you'll get over it.

The opportunity to "get over it" rarely presents itself.

I'm betting you're thin as a twig or fat as PH.

So either way, go to the gym. You go to uni/college, right? Should be free.

Lorizael, nah, you aren't screwed up in the head.

But just like Asher says, you can get over it, just get used to it. Don't think about what other people would think about you. They're prolly not thinking about you. JUst think this is normal, this is natural, there's nothing wrong with this even if you feel uncomfortable.

Then, you get used to it, and problem solved, tadaa!

I once knew this guy who never went to sauna with us or nothing, it's OK, there's always a person somewhere who is not feeling OK with it, but he said he also feels embarrased when he is naked at home BY HIMSELF!!!!

                            now wtf is that about?

I feel uncomfortable with nudity in general (although I have lived with people (men and women) who were very comfortable with nudity and were regularly naked).

I know why I don't like being naked (and won't around others, unless very drunk), and that is because I am a fatass.
