He (she) would probably be smart enough to handle the class easily. I have dealt with these classes several times and generally there are some students who find it very easy... and then there are the others, some of whom will fail at some point...

It isn't a proper approach.

Not to say that you have to be all smiles and flowers, but you are very often tactless and border line rude. this is well seen in this forum as well.

I would generally diagnose it as you've said it yourself - you just don't care about other people, and you look down on most of them. That is a bad approach in life, and that is a bad approach for a person in a position of power (boss, professor or even a TA).

You should probably take a lesson from a long time poster and end all of your e-mails with "have a nice day...."

Krazyhorse also has an ego that would prevent himself from believing that.

I like KH but I see him for what he is; brilliant, funny, mean, arrogant, proud, and lacking in the fundamental kindness that most people, especially canadians usually have. In many circumstances you admire him, but when he sets his snarky sights on you, head for the hills.

How about self-publishing your 50-page book under a pseudonym. Then take it to your professor and say, "Look at this great book! It would cost our students only 1/4 of what they're now paying, and it's better suited for our needs!"

He'd probably switch over -- as long as he isn't the author of the textbook currently being used. Then you could market your book to other Canadian colleges and even those in the U.S.

(You couldn't do it under your own name, because then your prof would say, "This is great. Let's put my name as lead author, I'll take 75% of the profits, and it's a deal!" )
