Host: "John from Halifax, what's your opinion?"
John: "Hi Bob, how are you?"
Host: "Fine John. What's your opinion?"
I can't stand this kind of crap. It's particularly annoying when the previous caller has also asked the host how he is.

Host: "John from Halifax, what's your opinion?"
John: "Hi Bob, how are you?"
Host: "Well John, since the last caller asked me this question a minute and a half ago, I've contracted AIDS and cancer, and I've crashed my car. How does it feel to be a f*cking moron?"

    • That is annoying, but I find the "not-howareyou" to be far more annoying.
For instance, I'll be simply minding my own business in a store or some other place I happen to be and someone will walk past me and say "Hi, how are you?"

Now, I've been trained to say "Fine, thanks, and you?" simply out of politeness, but nearly every time these people simply keep walking. Sometimes I'll still say it, and they either just ignore me or they'll awkwardly stop, turn around, and say "Fine, thanks." right back to me.

          • I've found this thread underwhelming so far. So much more potential for invective.
