The problem with mass demonstrations are that they tend to attract all kinds of unsavoury hooligan elements who riot for the fun of it and then try to pass it off as "anticapitalism". **** that! They only destroy for everyone else, but they don't care about that. They're just doing their thing and don't care about anyone else...

Like the LA riots? I am sure most of the participants motives were altruistic at heart. At least most of the Genoa protesters were tearing up someone elses city.

The LA riots were of a completely different kind. They were done by people who were fed up by the systematic oppression and inherent racism of the LAPD. They reacted to a awful event and the as a result years of pent up rage and resentment took the form of riots.

Nothing like that took place in Genoa. The rioters there are usually spoiled middle class brats or hooligans who enjoy rioting like a sport.

The CBS article is really bad and contradicts its own videos. It seems pretty deliberate, since the facts are almost all wrong.

And what a bull**** that no country would want to have Posada extradited. Venezuela has filed a request quite some time ago, and Cuba would be more than willing to get him. It's only a matter of will on part of the US.

Posada really is a terrorist and he's in U.S. custody. He's being charged with immigration fraud and entering the U.S. illegally, because they can't really do anything else with him. No other country will take him except for the two countries where he's a wanted criminal.

IIRC, the U.S. could try Posada for the downing of the Cuban Airliner, since the Constitution gives the U.S. jurisdiction of acts of piracy in international waters. The problem is there is evidence he informed the CIA beforehand and they "did nothing" (or more likely gave approval). He was a paid asset of the Agency for decades. They aren't going to give him up to talk after being betrayed by the U.S., but a Federal judge has said he either needs to be charged with a crime or deported.

Well, the leader of the demonstration is a well known person in Miami, and he's on film seen throwing a bullhorn at someone, so the police don't need us to come forward. They can just charge him. I generally don't advocate using the police to fight our political battles. As far as I'm concerned, the greater victory was in providing an opportunity for these guys to really shoot themselves in the foot. Plus, the police could charge us with incitement to riot.

I picked up the paper this morning, but I don't see anything in there about us (but it was for our county and not Miami-Dade). In the online version of the Miami Herald, they did make some changes to the story (which I had emailed him), mentioning why Posada is wanted. According to the article, the U.S. is reopening an investigation into Posada's role in the 1997 bombing campaign in Cuba.

I'm loathe to write or call the editors because I really do not want to bring attention to myself by these folks. As you can see with your own eyes, they don't play around. If they knew my name, they could find me, and I could find a pipe bomb under my car the hard way. They are not afraid to kill people, even in America.

He's from Cuba so give him back to Cuba. That would open a whole new can of worms though since he could, quite rightly, claim that he could not get a fair hearing in a totalitarian state. Better to charge him for air piracy, terrorism, and X counts of murder then hang him here.
