No, I said they don't count. They aren't anything.

I'd take her over Hillary. Condi is a very intelligent woman, a Provost at one of the top universities in the country and knows her stuff about the world. I'd like to see what she'd do if she was allowed to run the foreign policy her way.

Though a black woman is not going to win the Presidency.

Cheney won't be running. That he made it through his V.P terms is a credit to his perseverence.

Or the demonic forces which are holding his body together?

What has Cheney really done? A V.P. doesn't get much opportunity to shine. Well, unless your name is Dan Quayle.

You mean besides getting two gigantic no-bid contracts for Halliburton, encouraging Bush to invade Iraq, and inviting America's oil companies to write our energy policy?

Not all the way through. Not yet.

You heard it here first: the rumor flying around power corridors in DC right now, being widely repeated by otherwise circumspect, sober, responsible types, is that Cheney will resign soon, probably April, and Condi will become veep -- a move that would deflate some of the Dems self-congratulation over Obama and Hillary, and also explain Negroponte's curious move to the #2 position at State.

It may all be idle speculation. But if it's not, I want lots of smilies, okay?

Somebody pull out the Constitution. Doesn't the Senate have to vote to confirm a VP nomination?

Yep, but they'd confirm Condi; she's neither ineligible nor unqualified; neither is she tainted by corruption or abrogation of the law. Not everyone in the Administration can say that, but she can.

What it boils down to is that die-hard, anyone goes, democrats better get used to another republican run.
