Bernard Lewis is hardly a troll...
he is a brilliant historian.
Unfortunately hes not a demographer, and doesnt seem to have accounted for declining birth rates among the children of immigrants.

Maybe he ain't, I don't know. The article sure is, however.
"I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident "I never had the need to have a boner." -- Dissident "I have never cut off my penis when I was upset over a girl." -- Dis
Prof. Bernard Lewis, the world-renowned Middle Eastern and Islamic scholar
(...)
Lewis, who was born in London to middle-class Jewish parents but has long lived in the United States.
That's all I know about him really (and the fact he's a historian, as LOTM implies).
This article doesn't make me want delve further into knowing him.

True, few people can write xenophobic tracts like Lewis...

It's really too bad Lewis is Jewish. With his writing skill, he could give Cole a run for his money in fomenting anti-Semitism.
Hardly sounds like a right-wing conspiracy based on this. Just a huckster peddling dubious but juicy stories to a press eager for anything that will fill time on the 24-hour news networks...

Juan Cole on the history of the Iranian Bahais, hands down. Thats his thing.
Bernard Lewis on the Ottoman Empire in general, for sure.
I dont know that either is really an expert on the Iraqi Shia. And I dont know that id take any academic expert on the Iraqi Shia, given the pace at which reality is changing- Id favor a good reporter, like John Burns.
