    Pattycakes a liberal?
How the hell did that impression ever get made?

That would be me. The Heartland Cafe is a hippie-granola type place in Chicago with "natural" food and one hell of a beer selection. Before the micro brew fad caught on, it was the only place in the Midwest you could find a beer that didn't taste like piss and detergent. It has some ties to the Chicago left. Both TCP and I have eaten and drunk there, though not knowingly at the same time if ever.

Also, the t-shirt comment refers to Che t-shirts.

I voted for Heartland Eater, because I like the name. But I know "night owl" refers to me.

I'm strongly convinced Zkribbler is MrFun's DL, given his persistent lack of a clue.

Ahhh I should have known. The t-shirt wearer clue is a dead give away now that you mention it.

You would be correct, but GP likes to try to take the piss outta me by calling me one.

The great irony of all this is, the American political spectrum has shifted so far to the right that conservatism (as defined by AuH2O) is liberal now.

                    • Spin it how ever you want Oggie but this boils down to posting a political hit piece in the OP and then whining when someone calls you on it. The rest of us have come to expect that out of you.

Political hit piece????? What crack are you smoking??? It was a tribute article to Ford, one that invoked great healer references and common decency themes. Open and honest communicator mentionables. The right man for a troubled time. as it were.

Only the likes of you could read it otherwise. And decide unlike any other poster in the thread to be hack about it.

                        Again, not unsurprising.

yet in this very thread Odin has claimed that Hillary is NOT a liberal, despite her support for national health insurance, her opposition to ending the fixed benefit aspects of Soc Sec, etc, etc.

Goldwaterism is only "liberal" today if you focus purely on civil liberties issues, and its not clear that that would have been that different in 1964 (except that at that time the fact that his civil libertarianism led to opposition to fair housing leg made it look conservative)

I should have been more cryptic. One moniker only in the future.
