A real execution isn't like a movie. People can enjoy violence in movies BECAUSE it isn't real but rather a perverted form of it, even satirically at times (Tarantino, Splatters).

I'll bet you a dollar you've gone to see worse, and paid for it.
I dont think it is right to take enjoyment in the death of anther person, even when they deserve it.

Try and tell that to the posters who wet themselves with joy when Pinochet died.

Come to think of it, I wonder why those same posters seem to have fallen so un-joyfully silent vis-a-vis Saddam's imminent demise.

            QFT, my ass.

What I read here is that it's ok to go watch a gore film for "enjoyment", but one should be horrified at the demise of a true-life villian.
With all due respect, that is total bull****.

I could produce a direct reply to that but we'd continue circular movement.

You can think what you want. In a short time, it will be over. I have no problem with a muderer, a mass murderer, being executed. You do. That's your right.

The comparison to Pinochets death is faulty, as unfortunately he was allowed to live until he croaked from sickness and old age. He should have been hanged in the first place.

On Saddams hanging; normally I am anti death penalty, but for him I'm willing to make an exception. The world is clearly a better place without him.

It's far from being done, though. There are much more heads of state left, who deserve a hanging.

That's beside the point. The problem is with you enjoying the sight of someone being hung. I can be OK with the fact that an evil person gets killed, tat doesn't entail enjoying the sight of the killing.

To my knowledge, it's not going to be televised, so I don't understand your point.
As far as the popcorn, I imagine there are a few Iraqi survivors left that would watch it, and munch out at the same time.

Oh yes of course you weren't talking about yourself enjoying it with popcorn

The US should treat its puppets a little better.

Hell with the current Iran situation, the US would be kissing his butt today. They were back in the Iraq-Iran war. He is just a dumb (or unlucky) man that didn't play his cards right. Betcha he could play a mean banjo though.

pffft if it wasn't for the american propaganda machine, the majority of yanks wouldn't even know or care if this particular bad guy existed.

                              I feel exactly the same.

This bothers me. If I have a moral rule, the only exceptions should be when it runs up against a more powerful moral rule--and that isn't the case here. There's no moral imparitive demanding Saddam's death; I just want the mofo offed.

It's called hypocrisy brought on and reinforced by political correctness.
