Thanks. I did like your proof, but I turned in a different one. Kuci thought of making x the vector (1,1,1,1,1,1...), and I was eventually able to distill the proof down to a really simple one. (1,1,1,1,1,1...) multiplied by a matrix just sums up the rows, and it all works out pretty nicely.

I did manage to remove some steps from your proof. Here was KH's

Call the jth column vector of B bj
sum(over j) bj = 0
Therefore the bj's are not linearly independent
Therefore the rank of B is less than n
Therefore B is not invertible
Therefore the determinant of B is 0
Therefore s is a solution to the eigenvalue equation
Therefore s is an eigenvalue

Yeah I realized afterward there was no point in dividing by the sum, as soon as I'd done it.

Though all of those steps afterwards can kind of be compressed. In fact you can jump from the first therefore to the 3rd to last.

No, I'm not making it up. The much of the credit to the good standard of living we have in the West is due to the existence of the USSR. Once workers could prove that they could seize control of a country and run it, the capitalists began to toss more and more crumbs to the working class. Now that the USSR is gone, all those gains that had previously been won are under attack.

Capitalism kills many more, just not overtly. Hundreds of millions in the capitalist world have short, miserable, pain-filled lives, simply because they don't have any money.
