I actually think it would be to our advantage to have no limits in immigration.

There would of course be a series of beaucracy to determine citizenship... (to cut down on abuse), but immigration is a great thing!

I was refreing against the comment on why the US has limits to legal immigration. I would like to point out that if all immigration was legal.. it would be a lot easier to enforce.

The solution to Illegal immigration is to work at making those who have illegally immigrated legal. That means documenting them, and introducing them into the beaucracy.

Most of the (non Xenophobic) complaints about illegal immigrants would disappear if they were part of the beaucracy and were documented.

Legal immigrants, even though they took the time and effort to become legal citizens know how ****ed up and arduous that entire process is. They also know that people want to come to the US for better opportunity for their families. So I can easily see how a legal immigrant and sympathize with illegal immigrants.

It isn't legal immigrants who are clamoring for closing off the borders.

Right, therefore they're citizens unless you change or ignore the 14th ammendment. It's not a very ambiguously-worded ammendment.

Because of this ammendment you get bunches of pregnant Koreans coming over to have their kids in the states so that they can get American passports and avoid the Korean draft. A bit of a silly situation but you can't just ignore the constitution because it doesn't do what you want.

Right now illegal immigration is the best of all possible worlds for business. They get cheap workers who are easy to replace and easier to intimidate. Either amnesty or serious prosecution of the businesses that hire illegal immigrants (by far a better way of going about solving the problem since large businesses can't hide and have so much more to lose) would be vastly better than the joke of a policy we have now.
