In the early days of typewriters, the machines were slow and easy to jam. The "qwerty" keyboard layout was invented, with ackward key positioning in order to slow typists down. Unfortunately, this keyboard is still the standard today.
One of its many side affects is that the muscular-neural system finds it much easier to type "teh" than "the." It's a common blunder.
