It's not my argument, it's an observation. Smoking was socially acceptable for decades, but it's falling out of favour. It's ALWAYS been bad, but because it takes public action to do something about it, it's now happening that it's not socially acceptable any more.

Ok, smoking is a lifestyle choice and is not comparable to things that are inherent. The thing now is that bars aren't discriminating against you because you smoke with this law. They're not refusing to sell to you. Just like they're asking you to piss in the appropriate places to avoid public health issues they're now asking you to smoke outside.

Now I admit that I am stoned so I may be reading things funny, but I have never read asher say he wants to ban smoking full stop in this thread. Not once. I've seen him argue that smoking shouldn't be allowed in public places, but he realises that you should be allowed to smoke.

I don't doubt it, and the reasons you do so I also stated in that sentence. Though, just like how someone who earns less than a certain wage bracket pays less taxes than a higher earner, they both still have the same amount of political power, and this political power has been exercised on something that is a lifestyle choice, affecting people in a public place.

The difference is, the smokers are the ones intentionally harming their own health (and thereby raising their cost). So, per capita, smokers are using more of their "fair share" of medicaid.
