Damn anti smoking fanatics! Bars can't serve food and allow smoking? WTF!
I don't see why the free market can't regulate which bars, restaurants etc are smoke-free and to what extent.
It was, slowly. More and more restaurants were going smoke free around here, but there's absolutely no reason they should permit smoking anyway.
It's a public health risk, and is thus banned.
Simple.

also if these laws are voted for by the people, the public why are you for subverting the will of the people to the minority causing harm? do you want to tell the majority they dont have the right to shape the community they live in because you promote the right to harm them.
?
you can smoke, just outside. minority is merely inconveineced in their right. business owners stil recieve patronage from smokers. non smokers not harmed by secondhand smoke. who really loses?

I know that I and some of my freinds didn't smoke, and would prefer to go to a smoke free place (personally, the smoke often made my feel worse off than the alcohol on the next day). But there weren't really any smoke free bars in my area.
Additionally, we had a preference to go to a smoke free place, and others of my freinds really reallly wanted to be able to smoke at a place. It is hard for someone who isn't addicted to win out over an addicted person. (I don't like smoke, versus it is crucial to my enjoyment to be able to smoke (now of course he just goes outside to smoke.. but he certainly thought it was the end when the law was passed))
Smokers aren't reasonable people about smoking. If they were, they would quit.

No, we should (and obviously do) outlaw killing convenience store clerks.
do said laws actually decrease the murders of clerks?

For employees, they can choose too, and the market should raise the wage / health cover for jobs in the less popular smoking establishments.
People can't always pick and choose where they work. You really think waitresses at bars are working there because it's their dream job or something?
Diety dude is right!! and i dont own a suv or smoke to look cool!!! who the fu@k am im trying to impress?? There isnt a freak in this world that i care what he thinks of me so get off that rock!!! I dont give a rats ass what anyone thinks of me first of all, now back to diety hes right adults are adults if there is smoking allowed then go to a place it isnt allowed, why should every one bend over backwords to appease one person that doenst agree. You have a freaking choice leave!!!!! if you dont want to then deal with it. YOu dont see a smoker light up in a non smoking establishment do ya hell no we go outside where its legal. All non smokers want to claim i Have rights well heres a freaking news flash fellas, I as a smoker have the same freaking rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being dyslexic is hard work. I don't even try anymore.
your right to smoke outside is more easily exercised than my right to choose a non smoking establishment

and mrs tubes, youre the one person who is causing everyone else to bend over backwards. fact: the majority of people do not smoke. fact: the majority of patrons of bars and restaurants do not smoke. fact: you therefore are the minority forcing your harmful habit on others.
also you seem a bit drunk and/or in need of a cigerette

Who does have a dream job? Almost nobody. I've never known such a thing personally. Ultimately a job exists because someone wants something. If you don't want to provide that service because it's dangerous or unpleasant, then look elsewhere. Seeing as most people don't smoke, perhaps only 10% of bars need to have smoking available. So 90% of bar employers can be smoke free. A person is no more forced to work in a smoking bar than they are forced to work at the side of a motorway.
Bars can become dangerous places with drunken customers. Loud music can cause ear damage. Should we ban alcohol and live music too for the safety of staff?
I know that I and some of my freinds didn't smoke, and would prefer to go to a smoke free place (personally, the smoke often made my feel worse off than the alcohol on the next day). But there weren't really any smoke free bars in my area.
It was your choice to go out and drink? If you don't want the smoke why not stay in and have a great party with your friends. It ain't hard.
If a stiff like me can pull it off so can you.

It's easy. Tell em that they can smoke outside, if they don't want to do that, they don't have to come along.
Smokers aren't reasonable people about smoking. If they were, they would quit.
I think smokers are more reasonable then many of my fellow non-smokers. I have many good friends who are smokers and everyone of them asks me if it is ok if they have a smoke, even if I am riding with them in their car. They took care to keep the smoke away from me even though it was their place.
If they come over I try to make sure they have an ashtray but if I don't they don't ask or hassle me about it. It seems here that most non smokers would walk to the other side of the street as soon as they saw someone lighting up. It's a real loss for them cause they miss out on some great people.

and you have as many rights as the majority of the population grants you. so until you start advocating that smoking indoors, or allowing the choice to people is a fundamental right to every person in this nation, and think that such laws are unconstitutional, shove it.
unfortunately consumptive and enviromental impact choices you make arent protected by the consitution because discrimination based on consumptive choices and enviromental impact choices are hard to identify and hard to establish as a right.
and you are simply losing the right to smoke in a specific place. I never had the right to patronize a non smoking place until there was a law passed.

I think we've been over this argument. I don't care why you smoke, but a lot of people do start smoking to look cool. Smokers are, in general, a lot dumber than non-smokers -- by virtue of them thinking "hey, let's f*ck up my lungs for a buzz! YEEHAH!" These are the same kind of people who mock those who inhale lysol for the high, and I don't see why. They're just as braindead.

Huh? The majority of people do not smoke. Thus, they are bending over backwards (putting their own health at risk) for you to have more convenience by smoking around them. By popular vote...enough is enough, and you can be inconvenienced now.
You have a freaking choice leave!!!!!
And here's an idea -- SO DO YOU!
You have lots of choices, as I see it:
1) Refuse to patronize any institutions that outlaw smoking (YOU HAVE A CHOICE!! LEAVE!!!)
2) Step outside to smoke (YOU HAVE A CHOICE!! LEAVE!!!)
3) Quit smoking altogether (YOU HAVE A CHOICE!! QUIT!!!)
YOu dont see a smoker light up in a non smoking establishment do ya hell no we go outside where its legal.
Actually, last week a ****er lit up on the subway on the way home. At the next stop he was unceremoniously shoved out of the car by angry people.
All non smokers want to claim i Have rights well heres a freaking news flash fellas, I as a smoker have the same freaking rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course you have the same rights. There's no double-standard here.
If I wanted to smoke, I'd take it outside.
Here's the bottom line:
SMOKERS ARE SELFISH! And that includes 40+ year old drama queens who insist they don't smoke to impress anyone. Your stupid, bad habit is a health risk for those of us who choose to live healthier lives, and we should not be punished for your stupidity by vastly restricting where we can go so every now and then a stupid person decides he needs to smoke inside.
Stop being so damn selfish, recognize that people around you don't need to kill themselves for your habit, take it outside, and suck it up. Your whining ends here.
