too dangerous to ride a bike where I live. Unless you like being hit by cars.
My friend got hit by a truck while riding a bike a few weeks ago. It was a guy rushing through an intersection running a red light. She remembers flying through the air, and that was it. She was knocked out. There weren't many people around when she was riding, but when she came to, there were all kinds of people around her. She ended up walking away before the police arrived.
. She just doesn't think highly of herself, and doesn't like the attention. And she should have went to the hospital. Oh well.
My brother used to ride a bicycle for work for health reasons (to lose weight, stay in shape). He had too many close calls and finally bought a Toyota pickup.
I thought about riding a bike to work for health reasons. But just thinking about it made me tired.Comment

People in my city still do that all the time. At least in places that have windows so you can look out and see the bike. But it is funny, as theft rates for cars in my city are high. I have no idea what bicycle theft rates are.
At my places of business I see guys leave their bikes outside all the time. Often they will turn them upside down to slow down anyone would take it. I used to do that all the time when running in a 7-11 store. Never had a bike stolen from me.Comment
