It is English made, by a Japanese company. Like we don't have a clue what your cars are, you don't know what our cars are

What year and what did you have to pay ? I'm a bit curious since I just have bought a 98 mondeo for ~ 7.000 euro.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Nissan Primera, why such a large car?

            That sounds expensive!

I bought a '97 Fiat Brava back in '04 for only about 2,750 Euros - very tidy with only about 78,000kms on the clock...

You bought a Fiat and you wonder why it was cheap.

I wondered why it was so cheap too!

I've done about 20,000 miles so far - totally reliable...

Yeah, FIATs are cheap because FIATs are junk. Seriously, Mobius never, ever, ever, ever gets to make any comments in a car thread ever again. You have proven that your knowledge of cars amounts to jack-cheese.

20K miles is jack all. Call me back when you get to 250k like my Ford had (and it was still going strong when I sold it).

You claim I know nothing and yet you are working on outdated prejudices...

Reliability-wise Fiat indeed were **** and in fact are relatively poor now (mid-table but still better than Ford in the UK!).

However in the bit in between when they were building the Brava model that I own, they actually put out some decent cars...

I had a particular budget in mind and bought a 7 year old brand new looking car with 49,000 miles on the clock. It's reasonably fast and economical, and in two years I've put 20,000 miles on the clock with no days off the road for repairs and only having to replace the rear muffler. It still looks brand new apart from the keying on the passenger side by some chav ****s...

And all for the equivalent of $970 of your toy money...

So no, although I've never claimed to know much about cars I always seem to be remarkably 'lucky' in my choices...

20K without a single day lost in the garage. Did you do all the 250K yourself? Are you seriously claiming it did all that without needing any time in the shop? Did you actually understand the point I was trying to make before running your mouth off...?

                    • Hmmm, Fiat Brava 17th out of ALL car models in the UK last year

Not bad for a car that was already discontinued for three years...

Who is 'Mr Jack-Cheese' now, Oerdin?

                      • 20k miles is indeed jack****. Other than that, Fiat has a bad name for reliability but perhaps they've gotten their act together. And they sure are cheap (apparently).

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                        • Is the Primera basically the Maxima? Or maybe the Altima...

Ah, I see... it's basically the Infinity G20 (which was based off of the Nissan Sentra). It's in the same basic class as the Honda Accord, etc. Which would make it a tad larger than the average over there, yes?

10K a year. But then I suppose you guys don't have any public transport worth a damn, so drive more. Also our country is smaller...

I cycle to work, so none of my driving involves commuting.

As for the reliability issue, it's like saying "all Japanese cars are rust buckets". Oerdin merely was parading his ignorance about Fiat by focussing on a common misbelief, and I thank him for that because it just made him look like a total knob, especially on the back of trying to ridicule me!

Totally unwarranted in London in my own, humble, opinion. Either it has a bigger engine which is more expensive for tax - or it is likely to be underpowered...

Still, as long as he is happy with it that is the main thing - like I am with my Fiat...

Yes, I had noticed that. Commuting for my wife & I is ~12k miles per year. Then tack on any other driving we do. Of course, that's distributed between two cars. But anyway, making it 20k miles w/o any incidents doesn't necessarily mean a car is particularly reliable. It only means the one you have isn't particularly unreliable. The stats are more instructive. Your model runs 17th... which isn't bad, espeically for the price. Of course, the bottom of that list is littered with Fiats.

That your one model of Fiat happens to be more reliable than Fiats in general doesn't make him look like a total knob. It might make him look wrong, at least in this specific case (your car). You manage to make yourself look like a total knob, even if you're right about something. But that's another matter.
