And I'm not very hopeful on the results of this poll. The players who would benefit from the leveled playing field (the ones who aren't on very much), aren't going to be on to vote for this.

What's left are the compassionate people who are concerned with fairness over their ranking in the league.

It's still amazing to me that instead of providing a rational discussion in favour of your tactic, you continue to try the character assassination route.

Here's a newsflash for you, notyoueither: I'm not an upstanding citizen on this forum. I'm Asher. There's no character to assassinate. People don't think highly of me in the first place. Your blatant attempts to do so just paint yourself as desperate.

The simple fact is, I have very clearly, repeatedly, tried to hold a civil discussion here and you and joncha have gone through great lengths to provoke me into things that would get me banned or otherwise discredited. An interesting tactic that used to work, but this time I'm standing tall.

I care about this league and its fairness, that's why I'm doing this. I'm opinionated and I let my opinions be known, and I take my stances. Others on here don't care as much, others yet care very deeply to the point to stoop to character assassination and attempts to get the opposition banned rather than discussing the issue. That speaks volumes over how much faith you have in your ability to support such a blatantly unfair tactic.

I don't think you're using the word "penalize" correctly...you act like it's a god-given right that people who are on 24/7 can constantly rotate players, and removing this is "penalizing" them.

It's my stance that this is not "proper" behaviour in a league where the idea is to build a hockey team. It's exploiting the fact that some people are not able or willing (due to time constraints IRL) to do the same thing. It's giving players who do this an unfair advantage, removing this unfair advantage does not penalize them...it levels the field.

Actually, it seems to be your stance, from your own words, that it would be fun to get this league killed on Apolyton, just like the Mac Forum. It's fun (****s and giggles)!

Proper behaviour? I'll leave it to the judgement of the reader.

At any rate, make this league your primary one. Spend the time. Or why complain that others are putting in more effort?

I hope I don't get accused of anything untrue, but I think Asher is getting a bad rap, and has tried to argue his points admirably over these past couple of pages. He has steered away from the attacks that normally pop up at this time of night.

Maybe we are in the minority on the issue, but don't give him flak for caring. Him trying to debate the points isn't hurting this thread as long as it's keeping away from attacks.

I generally think Asher intentionally tries to prod and provoke but in the course of this discussion I think he has raised a valid issue for discussion and tried to get it resolved. It seems to me that most of the attacks have been against him rather then by him.

I hope we can reach a conclusion one way or another and just move forward (as I believe Asher himself suggested).

He makes his points in the form of an attack, always framing things so that he's on the side of goodness and light and anyone who disagrees with him is evil.

"I think we need such and such a policy so that the criminals who have no hockey knowledge and hate fair play will be stopped."

If you speak up against his idea then you know nothing about hockey or how fantasy leagues are supposed to work and really you only want to push his buttons anyway. That leaves him justified in calling you an alcoholic or whatever.

This is the same crap as last year and this year before the league started and right on the eve of the draft.

I'm sick of it, and when he started pulling it again tonight after Ming came into the thread, I was long past the point of arguing the merit of his ideas.

I can't speak too much for last year, I only lurked, but if I recall correctly, it was mostly just juvenile hockey arguments between NYE and him. There was more, but that was what went on most nights. But yeah, last year wasn't something to be proud of for either of them.

As for this year.

On the eve of the draft, there WAS a legitimate problem with the size of the league, and what settings we should use to accommodate. And this caused debate, which Asher was happy to partake in, even if for a little long. There was a legitimate reason for the debate to start though, it wasn't Asher pushing buttons.

I really don't think Asher has done all that much to make personalized attacks this year, and has done almost nothing to provoke. Yeah, he makes posts that irk people, and probably deliberately in some cases, but within the confines of this thread, I can't say he has been the ****-disturber. Even if I don't agree with how he argues some points, it's Asher, and he's not going to be everyone's favorite poster.

I vote no for a couple of reasons:

1) The players that are still available are largely marginal players. If they were any good, someone would have them on their team. So switching players to get an extra game won't have a significant effect on results.

2) The rules are set and should only be changed if there is a problem that is clearly disrupting league play. For example, the adding and dropping of dozens of players in a given day so that dozens end up on waivers is disruptive.

3) If someone thinks they have found a loophole and can gain an edge from it, so be it. Good luck to them. And anyone else can use the loophole too.

I've been asked to cast a vote on this practice, so I'm saying that adding/dropping players for one week is pretty lame. It does go against the spirit of things. Though I'm not sure how you can enforce a rule against people who do it. I'd vote in favor of a rule change, but I guess the only penalty is scorn and shameful looks at the person.
