It seems like the Dems will be taking both houses of Congress.

Wait, harmonised voting locations? How does that work?
Decide on some ground rules for how many and how centrally located polling stations need to be. Ensure that the changing of polling locations are rare and advertised well in advance. Basically, install measures to avoid the confusion that often seems to set in as to where and how to get to the place where you can vote.
Just as an example, we vote at local schools or community centers. Those locations very rarely change, and you won't ever have to travel more than a mile or two to get to your designated polling place. Even if you live on a small island. I mean really small, like 50 people. You'll get your own polling station on the island.
A couple of weeks before the election, you get your voting certificate by mail, specifying the polling place, polling hours, your name and social security number. It's just like a postcard. You bring it to the poll, exchange it for the ballot, get a check mark on the voters' list, and you're out of there in two minutes.
Nobody is ever in doubt about anything relating to the voting process. It's been like this forever, and it works. I understand the reasons why you can't harmonise your system overnight, with the way power is divided between different entities, I'm just saying you should work towards a harmonised, transparent system, and the first step is raising the issue to public debate inbetween elections, which is not happening, as far as I can tell.
Lots of reports of dirty tricks and deliberate voter surpression in the last 24 hours.
The NRCC (read: RNC) is trying a dirty trick using RoboCalls; attempting to use a computer to call, and call, and call Democratic voters with a message which confuses voters: http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/...l/15898729.htm
George Allen is one of the Republicans way behind in the polls so he's now busy proving what a ****bag he is by calling Democratic voters and telling them they will be arrested if they show up to vote. Allen claims he's trying to prevent voter fraud but has not provided any proof and instead is just mass calling Democratic leaning districts telling hem they will be arrested if they vote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9i-_3TiN9g
Here's a recording of the message Allen's campaign has been calling Democratic districts with. It completely lies as it claims to be an official government call when it is nothing of the sort.
Those charges of voter supression and dirty tricks are likely to earn Dems approximately 0 votes. I don't know why they trot out that tired mule every election.
Thankfully, GOP candidates tend not to waste a second of time making those charges.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Because it looks like the republicans use voter suppression and dirty tricks each election. Duh.

Duh. Most people won't hear about it til after the've voted. The question is, 'will it earn them negative votes?'.
It's just a waste of time and energy. Better to spend the priority getting out the vote.
Besides, making these charges creates a victim complex in the Democratic Party.

It's amazing to think that you are gullible enough to believe that. But it doesn't matter to me. Carry on.

wait, I thought Harman was still in the running. When did that change?
She probably is. But I don't think that the CBC is going to stomach Harman. Unless, say, Clyburn gets a really big prize like Majority Leader (what a terrible choice, BTW, between Hoyer and Murtha...). The Blue Dogs are content with Reyes, and Pelosi doesn't like Harman, so I don't see her taking the Chair.
