The UNSC will probably be in agreement for a change, but that's because Russia and China won't see the need to oppose the US on this one. But for it to really matter, there also have to be South Korean sanctions.

Do you really think that the Chinese will go for real sanctions as opposed to mearly symbolic ones?

At least the Chinese are agreeable with sanctions, which gives hope that the US might succeed in pushing for some rather serious sanctions.

Then again, the real events of impact will be unilateral decisions by countries anyway, not UNSC decisions.

So, it seems obvious for analysts that NK has plutonium since 1989 and for 2003 they had about 40-50Kg of plutonium, there is not info about enriched uranium.

OTOH If NK nuclear plants were working at full capacity (it seems it is not the case), they could produce about 275 Kg of plutonium every year. Having in mind that it is needed about 1.5 kg of plutonium to build a kiloton bomb yo can make the maths.

Apparently, one of the best methods the South uses against captured agents to turn them is to take them on a tour.

And in an early response, millions of knee-jerk Bush blamers wet themselves from the excitement.

How so, Winston? If anything, Bush, et al., will be able to put a political spin on this — something to the effect that, if you want to remain safe in a dangerous world, elect Republicans. And that Democrats and others who question Bush, et al., are traitors.

I could have sworn WoMD was the casus belli in another fairly recent war....
If it's applicable there, why not here (where there are actually WoMDs?)

In the worst case, well, it cant get any worse, can it? Even if they have a nuke or two, that's not enough to go for a full confrontation with the US.

And with a bit of luck, some relatively reasonable General will seize power. NK wont turn into a friend of the west, but at least it will open up a bit and that's all we need to send in McDonalds to win the hearts and minds.
I'm not following this much, but over the last 2 years there have been reports of NK opening up already. Extremely slowly, but still...
