Edmonton and Calgary both had good openers of the pre-season...very good goaltending from the rookie goaltenders.
Florida dressed a veteran team against a very young, inexperienced Calgary team and still got their ass kicked.
The best part, of course, is Brent Krahn's childhood idol was Eddie Belfour, and Krahn showed him up tonight.

In net for the Flames, 24-year-old rookie Brent Krahn got the start matching up against his childhood idol in Belfour.
"Through all my minor hockey and junior career, Eddie Belfour was the guy for me, so it was awesome being on the same ice as him," said Krahn, who outshone his 41-year-old hero making 36 saves including 18 in the first period. "It's sometimes better when you can get in there, face a lot of shots early, you start stopping pucks and can get on a roll."
Impressively, Krahn was facing an unusually talented line-up for this early in the pre-season with Florida dressing six of their top seven scorers from last season.
"He played a good game," assessed Playfair. "A lot of pucks hit him, so he was in good position whether he was seeing the pucks or not seeing the pucks."
