We all expected to see Daymond Langkow at centre between Jarome Iginla and newcomer Alex Tanguay as Calgary’s training camp opened.

But that wasn’t the case.

In fact, Matthew Lombardi was the center between Iginla and Tanguay while Kristian Huselius and Chuck Kobasew played with Langkow.

Do these lines stay together for long? That will depend on how the threesomes gel.

According to head coach Jim Playfair anything is possible and he wants to remain flexible rather than backing himself into a corner. And, afterall, it was only the first day of camp.

Other lines involving veterans included Tony Amonte and Jeff Friesen with Stephane Yelle as center. Amonte and Marcus Nilson also took some shifts with rookie Dustin Boyd as the centre.

In the afternoon session Jamie Lundmark was between Byron Ritchie and new tough guy Eric Godard.

On defence Robyn Regehr was with Dion Phaneuf, Roman Hamrlik was with Andrei Zyuzin and Andrew Ference was partnered with Rhett Warrener.

Lombardi has fantastic potential but he's never had a chance to play on the top line, so I think Playfair (after coaching Lombardi for 3 years) thinks it's time to try it out.

LOL, what I want is to post the pick here in the open forum (and not sure if it is allowed)......if you want I will pm it to you (though it will mean I need to find another PM to delete)

Since Mustard started posting the pick times i have been trying to get my time down..........sorry, just competitive by nature, I want to be higher in the rankings even in something as meaningless as that. Seems the best way to get my time down is to have my pick appear at the same time or before the player after me.

It doesn't make any difference to me if you want to post it outright. Like you said, the only possible "harm" is if KH picks the same player you want. If not, you're good.
