We're getting hit hard in Asia.

In August, Typhoon Saomai, the worst in five decades, killed 300 in China. 1.3 million were evacuated just for that storm. Initial damage estimated at 4.5 billion yuan.

Other powerful typhoons this year have ripped through other countries in East Asia.

Seems like every year the typhoons get stronger and bigger. Of course, nothing to do with climate change. People can't affect the environment. That's why the air is so clean throughout Asia. Water pollution, nah, none here.

        Far from a quiet year.

"Based on recent research, the consensus view is that we don't expect global warming to make a difference to the frequency of hurricanes," explains Julian Heming, from the UK Meteorological Office.

Normal yearly variation I expect. Even if climate change causes more violent weather overall, it would be silly to expect a linear increase in any given geographic region.

So far the southeastern US has been relatively quiet. Otehr places may be having a tougher year. Normal variation . ..

Are... are you saying that an insignificant statistical sample may or may not be indicative of anything? That's crazy talk!

too late, but don't forget hurricane Mitch. I didn't think there were that many bad hurricanes in October. I was wrong.
