Bears win, shutting out the Packers!

Grossman was 18/26 for 262 yards with a TD and one INT. That INT was his only mistake. He should have thrown it away instead of trying to force it into triple coverage for the TD. He's got to learn not to make those kinds of mistakes. But other than that, Grossman looked great against a Packers defense that was supposed to be pretty good.
Muhammad had a great game. His first 100+ yard game as a Bear.
Except for maybe the last game of the season (which could be meaningless), I don't see how the Bears are going to lose against any of their divisional opponents. Their defense is going to dominate again this year. And their offense, led by Grossman, now gives them enough of a threat to move the chains and score enough points to put them over the top.
The Bears have a very good chance of being the team that comes out of the NFC this year.
I'm trying hard not to be too high on this win because this Packers team does suck, but both the offense and defense were running on all cylinders. This team is ready to win.To us, it is the BEAST.

And one observation; it's not always the players you have, but the combination of players you have.
TOs team loses... coincidence? I think any team he is own is destined for failure.
Kitna? Bengals fans hated him, why? I have no idea. I've followed his career since Central Washington (mainly because of family), and he locked awesome tonight, despite the loss.
Plummer... what happened? Inconsistency. Same with the rest of the teams I have mentioned.
Build a team, not a franchise. The dynamics of a team only comes with time.

Seattle had problems with Detroit.Originally posted by Japher
Bears are in a weak division, still they had a great showing
Carolina struggled without Steve Smith.
The question of chemistry and TO's presence has to be a factor in Dallas.
We'll see how the Giants look tonight.
With the easy division, I see the Bears possibly being the top seed in the NFC. If they stay healthy like they did for the most part last year, they will most likely be the team that comes out of the NFC.
You are right. Build a team. And that's what the Bears have done. They added the final pieces to their puzzle by fixing their issues at special teams (which looked amazing, BTW), QB, and secondary depth.
Also, I think the Bears wide receiving core is going to prove itself to be better than most people think. Berrian is a legitimate deep threat. Muhammad seems to be over his "dropsees". And I think Rashid Davis is going to emerge as a threat as a slot receiver. Grossman didn't really hit him for any big plays today, but he'll show up some time in the coming weeks.
The key for the offense today was spreading the ball around. Making use of Des Clark was refreshing.
My only concern was the lack of follow-through in the red zone. But even without the offense being perfect, the Bears were able to dominate the Packers. I think there are going to be games where the offense does do well in the red zone. The running game didn't really shine today. That's another part of the game that will shine as the season progresses.
The first real test is going to come October 1st against Seattle. Though, I think Detroit (next week) is not going to be such a pushover. They are going to be a tougher divisional opponent than most people think. To us, it is the BEAST.

manning v manning
I'm very conflicted. I live in Indy, and root for them, though since I'm from Missouri, I root primarily for the Rams. I root for Eli because he went to my school.
I think I have to go with Eli.
1) I think the game means more to him, as he isn't established.
2) I can rip on my friends at work tomorrow.

Great to see The Beloved come out and dominate. The biggest concerns with the Bears today:
1. Ahman Green rushing for 110 yeards. Granted, most of this came after the Bears were playing "pass" but still -- NO ONE should get 100 against this defense, especially with the pathetic offensive line Green Bay has.
2. The Bears rushing attack was mediocre. Three yds/carry for Jones is nothing to write home about. Again, the Pack D was just calling "run" in the 2d half, but the great teams BURY you by burning the clock with the run. There's lots of room for imporvement here.
3. As Sava mentioned, red zone efficiency.
Most of this will improve over time. Grossman is still gaining experience. And the running game should gain better sync with more repetitions -- reps they didn't get in preseason.
All in all, a very encouraging start.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Were we watching the same game? Kitna did not distinguish himself. Plenty of poor throws and poor decisions. I've certainly seen worse, and I'm not calling for his head, but I definitely wouldn't call that awesome.Originally posted by Japher
