Is it the Suffragettes' Mud March of 1907 ?

Just behind this young man is an American insignia.

What building is this, and what historic treaty brought an American presence here ?

                    • Architecture looks Moorish, of a northern Moroccan nature. The guy looks Moroccan as well therefore it is Morocco!

Historical American involvement in Morocco has to = Tangiers.

Remembers some old American museum type building from visit to Tangiers in 1998.

                      The Legation Building

Therefore it is the Tangier American Legation Museum.

Apparently it is the first piece of property acquired abroad by the U.S. government, back in 1821.

Did you know Morocco was the first nation to officially recognise the US in 1777.

I may have had a bit of an advantage in that I just got back from that region, actually Ceuta/Tetouan only yesterday to jog my memory...

                            • Wrong continent.

Weaponry, uniforms, skin colours of the soldiers on both sides, and landscape should provide a number of clues...

                              • This looks like it could be the beginning of the remarkable fight put up by Colonel Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck (1870-1964) in East Africa against British and Portuguese Empire forces in WWI.

                                So- Battle of Tanga, 1914.
