BTW, serious kudos to Anaximander for getting the Battle of Kabul!

                  • Sorry it took me so long to get back to everyone. I didn't get a chance to get on the computer last night when I got home.

It is not Antitam...though it was a battle fought in the woods...very famous for it in fact. Like Antietam, it is called by two names. I'll take either one.

                      • Nope...I'll give another hint. A battle have been fought there previously in the same general location.

the 54th Mass, which the movie Glory was about, wasnt formed until after the battle of Antietam. The movie starts with that battle because it relates to the story in two ways - Capt Shaw, who went on to command the 54th, was wounded at Antietam, and so was available for command on his recovery, and because the battle of Antietam made possible the emancipation proclamation, which raised the question of raising black regiments.

                            • Second bull run was largely fought in open fields, as was first bull run.

Famous for woods - I guess it The Wilderness, which was fought very close to where the battle of Chancellorsville was fought (southwest of the Rappahannock, more or less due west of Fredericksburg - you can still get cheap houses out there today)

I have no inclination to post a pic, I pass (assuming i got this right)
