I'm sure there are many establishments all over the world named after Mao.
And a lot of folks would get upset about such a place. And if folks started cracking jokes about people being shot, or being sent in chains to the countryside, I think id be outraged by that too.

So, they chanced the name, or pressured the chance, because they don't want to be reminded, or what? Let's we forget, I quess?
I think a small group of people influencing business practices, and effecting cencorship, is wrong... Next, the muslim/christian/scientologist populace will go after Hooters, because they are greatly offended...
I wonder if a restaurant themed after German Empire from the Great War era would cause such ruckus... They were the bad guys, too, right?
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"
Oh shucks, they changed the name before I had a chance to post. I was going to suggest that there might be a reaction from the Indian community if someone named a restaurant after a certain famous massacre of Indians by British troops in the 1930s. Was it Amritsar?

Yeah, that's it. Amritsar was the more recent massacre of Sikhs by Indian troops. Sorry.
Actually, Jallianwalla Bagh is in Amritsar.
There was no massacre of Sikhs by Indian troops - there was a counter-terrorism operation in Amritsar in the 80s,

Actually there are a lot of Cultural Revolution themed restaurants in China. They're kind of like a T.G.I. Friday's or Applebee's, but with a different sort of nostalgic decor. And the food is just as greasy.

No. The page doesn't load, and its name takes away whatever credibility it had left.
