In my humble opinion, any explanation was redundant after this gem:

The US were waiting for that attack on pearl harbor. Some even say, as I seen in a documentory on Discovery, that the US knew they were coming but did nothing just to be seen as the victim to have the population on their side.

Just in case anyone cares, millions did not die. More actually died in the Tokyo fire bombing.
      You're right.

That said, it is estimated that by December 1945, as many as 140,000 had died in Hiroshima by the bomb and its associated effects.[1][2] In Nagasaki, roughly 74,000 people died of the bomb and its after-effects with the death toll from two bombings around 214,000 people.[3][4] In both cities, most of the casualties were civilians.
Good to know only a quarter of a million people died.

Sorry for watching the Discovery channel. Maybe it ain't coming out right, but that's what I saw, and it made a lot of sense how they explained it. It may have been a shockumentory but it made sense.

I've also seen a documentary that the US faked the moon landing...

But what is worse, some people actually believe it

In reality they landed on another planet (rumours say Alpha Centauri) but covered that up so that the USSR did not become suspicious. This was a wise decision, because the world couln't afford an intergalactic space race back then.

The Japanese should be grateful that the victors didn't turn Japan into a wildlife preserve.

If the Japanese want some more of what we dished out, then let's get it on!
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I have a hard time feeling any moral outrage considering we didn't start the war. There are many cases where I have felt moral outrage to actions initiated by the US... But here, maybe they shouldn't have attacked us.

True enough. That said, it can be argued that the war was pretty much over by the time the bombs were dropped, and that the real reason those several hundred thousand Japanese civilians were killed was to send a message to the USSR.

Anything can be argued. The only limiter is self respect.
