Reading text on a 61" screen from 10' away may be a challenge, or at least slightly uncomfortable.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I have no debt. I have no expenses right now and haven't for a year, and I make money on the side building/fixing friends/family computers. I also saved up a lot of money from my 16 months with IBM.
I'm a few weeks away from gainful employment with a bigger than expected salary as well."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Asher, I can't help by be amazed by the purchasing power you appear to have. I make a pretty standard living for someone my age and I find I have to think twice about buying a new shirt.

its amazing!! I am also in the market for a 42" LCD or plasma. In my case the 42 is the MAXIMUM size since its for a basement development and we are building bookcases on either side (plus mounting it above the fireplace)You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

YMMV. I sit 10' away from an 82" screen and there's some eye strain after a while, even though my eyesight is 20:20. I ended up moving down to a 21" LCD on my desk for surfing the web or whatever, which is a good size. Watching movies and playing some games on the big screen is great. I think I would prefer my 21" LCD for something like Civ, however.THEY!!111 OMG WTF LOL LET DA NOMADS AND TEH S3D3NTARY PEOPLA BOTH MAEK BITER AXP3REINCES

Lighting might have a partial impact, but it's my sense that it wasn't the big thing. Again, doing things like watching HDTV on the big screen is really awesome. I wouldn't program on the big screen, however.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Regarding sound, a basic Yamaha combo setup will do fine, although make sure you get one with enough optical and RCA digital audio inputs for your computer/cable/XBox360. Sometimes those combo kits skimp on this.
If you are willing to spend $1,000 to $1,500, I think you could put it to good use on lower mid-level separates.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter.
