"Don't ask, don't tell" was designed as a hypocritical farce from the beginning. It was an uncompromising compromise worked out to get Clinton and the military off the hook after the military leaders indicated they would disobey the President if he ordered them to admit gays.

I'm not at all sure how community theater got into the evaluation process.

I remember that for a few decades the top military unit in greece were those homosexual couples from the city of Thebas, the theory was that soldiers would fight even harder and more motivated, if they also fought for their lovers.

And many conquerors indulged in homosexual behaviour, so I dont see a reason for not allowing them.

I think I mentioned this like, six years ago. There were more dismissals for homosexuality after the policy was instituded than before.

As for the community theater, it's not because that's a gay thing to do, it's because they wanted to be sure they had the right person, as the guy who narc'ed on him had only chatted with him online and they couldn't otherwise identify him.
