Love the name for this electric car company!

Web site, with lots of great photos

    Really beautiful car. ~ $100,000.

The $65 million in private investment is from an interesting assortment of folks, including: Musk (space launch, I have discussed him before); Brin (Google); Page (Google).

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Nice. Any catches? The one that jumps out at me is the sticker price...

Produce a normal sedan in the ~$30K range and I'm all sortsa interested, though.

None that I can think of, besides the price. It would be nice to have a 500 mile range, but 250 miles is pretty good anyway.

It could use some more luggage space, but given that this is a roadster, I don't think it's expected.

No, but if they have success, perhaps it will open up more interest in something a little more mainstream.

Doesn't matter to me. I'm more interested in the technology, which could be applied to cars that are more in my price range and fit my lifestyle.

I'm looking for the Rav4 of electric cars. $20,000-25,000, good quality, no bragging rights, no ego trips, just trips up the road.

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.

Conversion from electric consumption to gallons of gasoline equivalent is calculated using the EPA conversion factor documented in the Federal Register: June 12, 2000 (Volume 65, Number 113), Rules and Regulations, Pages 36985-36992.

Does that have a good correlation to how much it'll cost you to charge the batteries (obviously, like gasoline, power prices vary somewhat).

Oh. That makes everything as clear as a summer's day in downtown L.A.

Electric cars can be charged with American coal, hydroelectric and solar while gas cars run on arab oil.

That's all I really need to know to spend an extra $5000.

Somewhat. 1 cent a mile would make it $1.35/gallon equivalent. Compare to $3 or whatever for a gallon of gasoline.

This is using PG&E's off peak power costs. I think other places in the country are cheaper.
