Well, Tylor's been mentioned, but there are much better anime captains than him. He's just lucky (which isn't bad at all, but still).

Laicch Üémh Laubér Placïac (a/k/a Lexshue), Captain of the Gauthloth in Crest of the Stars, for instance. She's a good captain.

Or, from the same show, the very fun and stylish Spaurh aronn Saicspath Nimh Laitpanr Painaigh (a/k/a Spoor) of the Futune. She's always a kick to watch, and she's actually a good captain under all the attitude.

              Edit:

Had to add this quote from her, going in to a major battle:

“Communications Officer, notify all units. Respect their wishes to surrender anytime. However, those who surrender after the battle has begun will travel to the capital through normal space only. To save travel time, the ship will be stripped of all space-time generators, gravity control devices and stabilizers, and there will be no crew. Prisoners will be supplied with a year’s supply of food and water. Arrival time is estimated at 49000 years. That’s all.â€

                              He's indestructible.....'Captain Scarlet!'

Siouxsie and the Banshees used to do a really shambolic version of the theme tune when they started out....

Captain Scarlet, still more expressive and less hammy than Shatner.
