Exchange rate wise Germany is still ahead of India and China.

The point of using such a generic term as 'importance' is about stiring debate in what's important and seeing who falls where. That's more interesting than the G8 in this thread imo. If you think it's important than it's important to you, right?

In 1975, the whole purpose was to make an informal club of rich nations in order to discuss common problems, such as those created by another club, the OPEC. The only error they made was to advertise this idea, and now people desagree with the name, the members, the agenda ...

Because all the trade and financial flows in the world do not run along PPP lines. A country's weight in the global economy does not change one iota because it's PPP rating is so much more/less favourable.

PPP got into use because it supposedly reflects the standards of living more accuratly, not because it's a better measure of economic clout.

Our economy was briefly bigger than Russia's, which is probably is not something that can ever be said about Litaland.

Colon, how about Benelux for the G9 and they get a small couch instead of a chair but still only one vote?

I think too Colon meant Lithuania, but it isn't a real word here, rather something like Mingapulco
