Some even believe indo-european langauges originated in India, and from there they expanded all the way thru central asia and the iranian plateau to europe, but no one takes them seriously

Yeah, I'd go with that. Hinduism seems to be a fussion of different ideas that got mixed as different people entered India. Over all that makes it an Indian religion though who's origin had strong influences from the outside.

Also Time Magazine has a nice article about the religious divide in India. It's to long to quote so I will just give a link.

The two big things I hate about the BJP (Hindu Nationalist Party) is 1) they love stiring up ethnic and religious tensions with crap like blowing up Islamic Mosques which were built on top of the ruins of old Hindu temples. They want to undue the muslim invasion by destroying 500 year old Mosques and "rebuilding" ancient hindu temples which predated the invasion. That's just stupid. 2) They want to purify India of any foreign influence and by doing so they are destroying Indian history and replacing it with a fictional history. Many, many, many more people know the name Bombay yet scratch their heads about the new name Mumbai. This is just another lame political renaming like Lennigrad/St. Petersburg or Istambul/Constantinople and I hope that in the end people will go back to using the internationally recognized name. I mean how insecure and inferior must Indians feel if this is how they choose to spend their time.

does anyone actually contest the claims of discrimination on the website? I glanced at them, and none of them seemed out of line with what ive heard about the societies described.

Uh.... Oerdin? Mumbai is the INDIAN history name. Bombay is an Anglicized version of the Bom bahia, which means "good bay" in PORTUGESE.

But it is also a city that has been riven by the Hindu-Muslim tensions that have haunted India over the past 15 years, with a history of riots, and bombings blamed on Muslim extremists. Whoever was behind the bombings appears to be trying to exploit those tensions. But this time, there have been extraordinary scenes as Mumbai's Muslims have come out in defiance to defend the unity of the city. Muslims queued for hours to give blood for Hindus injured in the bombings. Even the leaders of the hardline Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena, a party rarely given to praising Muslims, said they were "overwhelmed" by the reaction. "Hindus and Muslims walked hand in hand yesterday," said Manohar Kargaonkar, a party official.

Tanweer Sheikh, a Muslim from the Bandra station slum, said: "They are trying to split us, but they cannot. We are 99 per cent Muslims living here, but we were the first to go to help the people on that train. The police did a good job, don't get me wrong, but they don't have a police station here. We were the nearest so we had to help.

"We didn't care if we got Hindu blood or Muslim blood all over us. As far as we are concerned in this neigbourhood, we are Indians first, and Muslims or Hindus only after that."
                        Muslim scums!

                            Shiva: almost naked
                            Mecha-Shiva: armored

                            ADVANTAGE: Tied

Shiva: has dwarf he steps on as sidekick
                            Mecha-Shiva: Brock freaking Sampson
                            ADVANTAGE: MS

Shiva: been macking on Shakti since the dawn of time
Mecha-Shiva: the fused form of two virgin, effeminate sissy-boys.
                            ADVANTAGE: Shiva

That should clear things up. Outside of the romance department, MS wins overall.

Mecha-Shiva would eat one of them within the first few seconds of the battle, so that is irrelevant.
